The Drip who had appeared startled the brunette. Instinctively, Fawn reached into her breast pocket and grabbed her switchblade, flipping it up. The distinctive swish! of the blade was familiar to the girl, and she'd know it anywhere.
Taken aback by the Drips comment, she raised her voice and said, "Hey! Just 'cause I'm forgetful and clumsy doesn't mean i don't know how to fight with a blade!" She could feel her temper rising with every second.

Eric stepped protectively in front of Fawn, despite the switchblade in her hand. "Shh," he hissed quietly to her. "Don't feed his fire. We don't want trouble, man," he called out. His palms were beginning to sweat.
"Of course you don't." The Drip clipped a laugh. "All you want to do is run. But I'll admit, you look different when you're actually holding your ground." He snorted. "She your girlfriend?"
Eric clenched his jaw and flicked his hair. The thick black strands settled around his hazel eyes.
"Oh, don't worry," the boy at the other end of the hallway called, flicking the blade of his switchblade back and sliding it into the pocket of his baggy sweatshirt, "I'm not going to hurt you. It's two against one; an unfair fight. You're cowards and all, but I know better than that."

The brunette frowned in confusion, but only for a second, remembering how many times she'd been told it'd give her frown lines. Ignoring Eric's advice, which were words wasted, she said, "So, what's your name? The least you could do is tell us that if you're gonna sit here and harass us." Fawn smiled friendly, hitting the button and pulling the blade back into the knife and putting it back into her breast pocket. She relaxed into her normal position, her legs crossed, slouched, and hands both in the pockets on their side of the jacket.

Eric bit his tongue to keep from elbowing Fawn.
The Drip tossed back his chin and laughed harshly, the sound ringing through the halls and standing the hairs on the nape of Eric's neck up. "Are you kidding?" the dark figure snorted. "You really are a loner then!"
Eric felt a frown tug at his lips and he dropped his arm to his side, but didn't dare put the knife away.
"Giving you my name is a one-way ticket to Hell for me, darling," the Drip continued with a fake fondness. He reached up and tugged on the hood of his sweatshirt, pulling it further down over his eyes and hiding his face. "And who says I'm harassing? You obviously don't think I'm much of a threat right now." He flicked his fingers at her, gesturing to her slouching stance.

The brunette glared at the Drip. "What, 'cause I slouch? Just because it's not perfect posture doesn't mean I'm not prepared." She reached her hand into her pocket and grabbed the blade, putting back into her pocket, but keeping a good grip on the blade.

The Drip let out an airy laugh that made his head drop back. The air hissed through his teeth and echoed down the hallway. "So touchy," he chuckled. "You loners are all the same." He lifted his hands to his face and cowered against the lockers. "'I put on a brave face and I hink it's so strong!' It's pathetic, really.
Eric fumbled with the knife in his hand. "Fawn, shush," he hissed quietly.
The Drip heard him. "Let her speak!" he boomed with a grin. "Women have rights, too. Come on, girly. Let's talk." He motioned her to come closer, daring her to walk down the hall, away from Eric.

The girl stood her ground, staring questioningly at the Drip, the look Do you think I'm that stupid? on her face. She glanced at Eric, who looked nervous, fumbling with his knife.
"OK, 'Mr. Tough Guy,' I may not be the smartest, but I'm not completely idiotic. So just leave me the F alone." Fawn rolled her eyes, not scared the bit of this guy. Sure, he was probably better at handling gun than her, but she had speed on her side. Unless she tripped that was.

The Drip smiled at her. A sickly sweet smile that left Eric shuddering. Eric reached out quickly and grabbed Fawn by the hip, pushing her back behind him.
"You just doing this for kicks?" Eric asked. The Drip laughed coldly, but didn't reply. Eric clenched his jaw, slowly taking his hand off Fawn's hip. "Stay right behind me and back up," he told her.
The Drip let out a fake whine. "Aww, don't leave me yet!" he said. "The fun's only started." He grinned maliciously. From within his sweatshirt pocket he drew a revolver pistol. He cocked it.
Eric's heart stopped. "Run!" he snapped at Fawn, giving her a hard shove to get her moving. He made himself into her sheild and ushered her down the hall. The school was so dark, unfamiliar to him in this current state. He felt panic course through his veins at the thought of getting cornered here, of getting lost.
A bullet ripped through the air with a hollow crack. It wizzed by, missing them by a hair. "Come on!" the Drip called viciously. "Let's play!"

Fawn allowed Eric to push her behind him, and did as she was told. Seeing Eric was clearly not in a mood to mess with, she stepped behind him more.
She heard the Drip pull something from his shirt pocket and heard the distinctive click of a revolver being cocked.
Oh shit! she thought as Eric pushed her to start running and she slightly stumbled as a bullet from the gun barely missed them. She knew she'd be able to find a way to exit the school better than he would, so she grabbed his hand a told him, "Hang on! I know an easy way out from here!"
She led him through the hallway, heading towards the back door that was almost never used. She could hear the Drip's footsteps following them, which caused her to run faster and pull on Eric's hand harder.

Eric let her take his hand, forcing himself to take shorter strides with his legs to stay behind her. He would kill himself if she got hurt because he wasn't shielding her.
He heard a soft laugh that was all too close. Grabbing Fawn's hand painfully tight, he yanked on her just in time to see that the Drip had found a shortcut to get where they were.
"Go!" he shouted at the young woman, urging for her to go in the opposite direction.
The Drip laughed harshly, his head lolling back as he raised his gun once more. A second bullet ripped through the air, grazing Eric's shoulder. Eric knew, even as he winced in pain and gripped his shoulder, it was too high to hit Fawn.
"There!" Eric ordered, turning her down a hall, one that looked familiar in the dark. They had come in through here, hadn't they?

Fawn slightly tripped when Eric pushed her away, but quickly regained her balance. The gunshot made her jump, and she realized that was why he had shoved her. She saw Eric grab his shoulder and flinch in pain, and she wanted to rush to his aid, but she knew that would be more hassle and they could deal with it once they were away from the Drip safely.
When Eric shouted and pointed towards an exit, she instantly knew it led to around the back of the school. It was supposed to be an emergency exit, but someone disbanded the alarms a long time ago. Also, it was where the worst kids at school went when they ditched class to smoke or to hang out. She dashed to the door and swung it wide open, holding it for Eric and yelling at him to "Hurry!" She'd already caused him to get hurt, and it'd make her feel worse if it happened again.

Eric skidded to a halt and forced Fawn to go first. "Don't worry about me," he ordered harshly. "Just go; I'm right behind you."
He followed her own the stairwell and out the back door, keeping his hand on her back to keep her moving. Just because they were out of school, didn't mean they were safe yet.
He let them stop when they reached the sidewalk. Eric worked his trench coat off his shoulders and tried to see if the bullet had hurt him more than he had thought. It was bleeding, but not too bad. Just a flesh wound, he figured.

Fawn noticed Eric kept his hand on her back to guide her, and she was partially thankful. She probably would've fallen otherwise. When they were outside, she bent over and put her hands on her knees for support. She's was kind of out of shape, and running that fast, plus the panic, wasn't good for her.
She glanced at Eric, and saw he had took of his coat to examine his shoulder. She stood up and walked over to look at it. "How bad is it?" It didn't look to bad, but it could be worse than it looked.

Eric shrugged, pulling his coat back up onto his shoulders, putting his hand over his shoulder. "Dunno; it's too dark to tell," he said, glancing over his shoulder at the looming school building.
That Drip hadn't followed, oddly enough. Maybe he had just wanted to scare them out of the hideout.
"I should probably have my mom take a peek at my shoulder," he said, returning his hazel gaze to Fawn. "You're welcome to snag along, if you like. It's dangerous out here."

The girl gazed at the shoulder in concern as Eric pulled his coat back up over it. She hoped it'd be ok. She figured he'd be fine until his mom saw it.
When he asked if she would want to come with back to his house, she thought she might as well. It was Friday, so no school tomorrow. She didn't really have a life, and therefore no plans. "Sure." She almost took a step, then realizing she didn't know where they were going, she stepped back and said, "Lead the way."
